SHIP was established in June 2004 and was envisioned to be the training center dedicated to Filipinos working in the hotel and catering departments of cruise ships as well as those who work in conventional commercial vessels. Ship’s main objectives are to train prospective seafarers for entry level positions and to provide upgrade courses for existing seafarers to make them more eligible for higher positions in the areas of cooking, dining, bartending and housekeeping.
The courses are designed to meet TESDA competency based requirements and at the same time meet international cruise and merchant ships standards.
The trainers are seafarers and hoteliers who are well experienced in their respective fields.
SHIP was originally designed to cater to top of the line cruise ship companies with high standards of food, service and hygiene such as Cunard, Seabourn, SeaDream.
However, realizing the needs of conventional ships and with encouragement from commercial ship owners, SHIP developed new courses which shall improve the culinary skills of Cooks working onboard bulk carriers, cargo ships, tankers, car ships and other commercial ships.
