Why enroll at ship?

SHIP was established in June 2004 and was envisioned to be the training center dedicated to Filipinos working in the hotel and catering departments of cruise ships as well as those who work in conventional commercial vessels. Ship’s main objectives are to train prospective seafarers for entry level positions and to provide upgrade courses for existing seafarers to make them more eligible for higher positions in the areas of cooking, dining, bartending and housekeeping.

The courses are designed to meet TESDA competency based requirements and at the same time meet international cruise and merchant ships standards.

The trainers are seafarers and hoteliers who are well experienced in their respective fields.

SHIP as a Training Venue

SHIP was originally designed to cater to top of the line cruise ship companies with high standards of food, service and hygiene such as Cunard, Seabourn, SeaDream.

However, realizing the needs of conventional ships and with encouragement from commercial ship owners, SHIP developed new courses which shall improve the culinary skills of Cooks working onboard bulk carriers, cargo ships, tankers, car ships and other commercial ships.

The design of the galley was conceptualized by a team of experts

The highlights of the training center are two well equipped kitchens which replicate as closely as practicable the equipment used in hotels and onboard cruise and merchant ships. It has both hot and cold galley sections and a pastry section.

The design of the galley was conceptualized by a team of experts in cruise ship galley operations who put their bright ideas into place.

The experts painstakingly put every detail into the galley making it a galley simulator.

The top management of SHIP established, implemented, maintained and continually improved a Quality Management System (QMS), including the processes needed and their interactions, in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and was certified by TUV SUD.

The scope of certification is the following:

Provision of training courses for hotel personnel of cruise ships, catering crew of merchant vessels, and for tourism trade students.

Provision of national competency assessment for TESDA national qualification in the tourism and maritime sector

Provision of On-the-job training for catering and tourism trade students
